The site, abortion.ca.gov, includes information on abortion providers, financial assistance, as well as resources for undocumented people and minors. The website includes a “California Abortion Finder,” a search engine that state officials say allows people to search for providers privately and anonymously. It also features a tool that allows users to report misinformation about abortion. “This new website is an essential resource, providing essential information to patients inside and outside of California, and can hopefully serve as a model for the rest of the nation,” said Jodi. California’s Democratic-led government and abortion providers are bracing for an influx of patients following the US Supreme Court’s decision to strike down federal abortion protections. State lawmakers recently passed a set of legal protections for providers and patients, as well as legislation establishing a fund to help those traveling from out of state. California voters will decide in November whether to prohibit the state from denying or interfering with an individual’s reproductive freedom. The launch of the website comes on the same day that a group of Republican lawmakers in Congress were expected to introduce a proposal that would ban abortion nationwide after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
